Dear Community members,

Asalaam o alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Welcome to Ramadan 1439 (May 2017). May this blessed month bring great joy and happiness to the whole ummah, Aameen. Kindly keep everyone in your prayers and wish for them what you would wish for yourself. Jazak Allah Khayr.

The date(s) you select will be confirmed by a member of the Executive council with a phone call or in person. In order to have successful community Iftaars, we would like to present you with a few guidelines to follow:

NOTE: Weekend Iftar events will require the sponsor to sign a separate agreement.

1. Please sign-up for ONE day only (if more dates are still available after Friday, June 2nd, you may sign-up for additional days).

2. You are signing-up for and responsible for the Gregorian date

3. All food must be prepared in a clean & sanitary environment that would comply with local Health department standards.

4. All Iftar dishes should be finger foods only (samosas, large pieces of fruit, etc). Dates and drinks must also be provided.

5. All meat and poultry products must adhere to strict Islamic Halal (Hand Slaughtered) guidelines.

Please be extra careful in purchasing chicken, as many places use mechanical slaughter as this DOES NOT qualify as Hand Slaughtered Halal (Zabiha).

6. All food must be brought to the Masjid in covered foil trays with adequate amounts to feed approximately 40-50 (Weekday), 250-350 (Weekend) brothers and sisters. Ensure that the trays are in pairs (one for brothers and one for sisters).

7. All sponsors are responsible for all the setup 15 minutes before Iftar time on weekdays and setup 1 hour before Iftar time on weekends. All sponsors are responsible for clean-up including basement/kitchen and setting up basement for prayers.

8. All leftovers must be taken home (do not leave at Masjid). Adhering to these guidelines will help ensure that catering is of acceptable standards by the community.

9. Paper products for WEEKDAY Iftars will be provided by ICCL. Paper products for Saturdays and Sundays will be provided by the sponsor.

ICCL will provide cold water for whole month. Sponsors should not bring any water.

10. Weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) include Iftar and Dinner.

11. A $200 expense will be required for each WEEKEND Iftars. This will help cover the cost of clean-up and serving assistance.

12. Sign-up for the last 10 days of Ramadan is also available. You may sign-up for iftar or suhoor. Keep in mind that food should be prepared for those in itikaaf in addition to regular community members. The approximate number of persons will be confirmed as the day nears (approx. 250-350).

13. Weekend sponsorship for last 10 days should include a SEPARATE serving for those brothers in itikaaf (numbers to be confirmed).

If you have any questions, please contact any member of the Executive Council directly or Office Manager (301) 317-4584.

Jazakallah Khayran,

 ICCL Executive Council
