Dear Beloved ICCL Community,

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu.

As of April 20, 2020, the Masjid continues to remain closed to the community. Unfortunately it seems fairly certain that the state of Maryland will still be in lock-down as the Holy Month of Ramadan begins at the end of this week. While this will be a different experience for many of us, we pray that it will not prevent us from making this Ramadan the best one of our lives inshaAllah.

In light of the current circumstances, the ICCL Administration has been working hard to ensure that we offer programs for the community to benefit from during the holy month of Ramadan. These operations and services at ICCL may be adjusted as new and revised guidelines from the City, State and Federal Governments are issued. We wish the ICCL community and Muslims around the world a blessed Ramadan.

Start of Ramadan- Moon Sighting
Please make an effort to sight the moon for the start of Ramadan on the evening of Thursday, April 23rd. If the moon is sighted that evening, Tarawih will start the same night and the first day of fasting will be on Friday, April 24th. If the moon is not sighted, then Tarawih will start on the evening of Friday, April 24th and the first fast will be on Saturday, April 25th.

Isha & Tarawih Prayers

  • At this time, Isha and Tarawih will not be open to the community this Ramadan. This stance may change as new and revised guidelines are issued.
  • Although the Masjid will remain closed, we have coordinated several lectures in addition to live streaming of the prayers held at ICCL by our religious leaders and huffaz. Please see the program flyer below for more information.
  • Isha prayer will be held 5 minutes after the start time (per calendar) – broadcast only.
  • We also encourage you to establish the Tarawih prayer at home with your families. Please see the guidelines listed below if you wish to pray Tarawih at home.

Itakif

  • At this time, Itikaaf will not be open to the community this year. It will be conducted on behalf of the community by a very small group of individuals from the administration. This stance may change as new and revised guidelines are issued.

Eid Prayer

  • Eid messaging to be sent out later as the Administration works on possible solutions.

* All of this information has been explained in more detail in a short ~10 minute video posted by our ICCL President Osama Hasan. Please watch this video located HERE so that you are well informed of the updates by ICCL for Ramadan.

Ramadan Calendar
This calendar can also be printed inshaAllah to keep at home. Please note the updated Ishaa iqamah and Jumah prayer timings, as well as the updated Suhur, Fajr and Maghrib times. The Suhur and Fajr times are using the 18 degree solar elevation angle opinion which is now held by the vast majority of Major Fiqh councils. The Maghrib time is also now 1 minute after the time in the previous calendar.
