Special Needs Services at ICCL

Muhsen | Awareness | Accommodation | Acceptance

Alhamdulillah, here at ICCL, we have recently committed to making the masjid and our programs accessible for all members of our community, which includes those with special needs. In order for us to know the requirements of Special Need Families in our community, we have to reach out to everyone and ask how we can make it easier for you or those in your care to attend ICCL programs and events.

To help us learn about our community needs, we are partnering with Muslims Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs (MUHSEN), a non-profit organization that strives to create a better understanding of disabilities in our communities.  Their mission and our mission inshaAllah, is to help create an environment where individuals and families with these needs are welcome and their needs are addressed as they are accepted by all.  MUHSEN has established a special needs assessment survey to help them learn more about the needs of the local community. If you have a family member with special needs, please click on the link below to fill out this survey. Also, if you know of a family in our community who has a family member with special needs, please forward this web page or survey link to them.

All responses are confidential and the information goes directly to MUHSEN.  MUHSEN will only inform us of the general needs of our community in terms of number of individuals and the types of requirements and needs we should be addressing.

It is really important to us to provide opportunities for involvement into our masjid and our community as a whole.  To further this objective we hope to establish the following programs in the near future with the help of our community volunteers and the dedicated workers at Muhsen:

  • Dedicated Special Needs Facilitator
  • Monthly Caregiver support groups run by a health professional for those with Special Needs.
  • Wheelchair accessibility at all programs and functions.
  • Respite care services for families.
  • Buddy program at weekly events.
  • Hearing impaired assistance at lectures and khutbas.

ICCL is working to obtain certification through MUHSEN, a non-profit organization that strives to create a better understanding of disabilities in our communities and building a better future.

For all inquiries, please contact us office@icclmd.org. We will be providing a direct contact for our Special Needs facilitator very soon inshaAllah.

JazakumAllahu Khayran
